We have a set of beautiful French doors in our bedroom. It’s great having them open so the fresh breeze can flow in. However, with unpredictable “cold” weather, the doors stay closed, most of the time. A stale and musty smell became more and more evident. Yuck. We had no choice but to open the doors to let the room air out. Within the hour the corrupt smell dissipated. The recent downpour of rain managed to pound through holes in our roof and seep into our walls. We were clueless our roof had holes. Our roof looked great! Who Knew? But inside revealed a different story.
This last rain broke through the ceiling, and we had multiple leaks. Our contractor took out the drywall and the light showed where the leaks were.
Much to our shock, we saw black mold. It was everywhere under those big boards. That explained the nasty smell.
The mold was growing abundantly underneath the roof and wasn’t noticed until it was exposed. What a mess. Professional and permanent removal was necessary and immediate. Not only that, we needed a new roof. What a costly sacrifice. But now we will be covered.
Forgive Us Father that We the Church have unpredictable trials in our lives, and instead of trusting You, We become “cold”, put up “drywalls” and close the doors on Your Love. (1 Peter 1:6-8)
Forgive Us Father that We the Church can be clueless that We have holes in the roof of Our obedience to Your Word. And the world sees Our leaks. (James 1:22)
Forgive Us Father that We the Church sometimes keep Our bedroom doors closed to Your guidelines and mandates for Purity. And it quickly becomes a stale and musty, corrupt smell. We think You don’t notice. (1 John 3:3)
Maybe We forgot that, much to Our shock, the Holy Spirit likes bring His cleansing rain of forgiveness on Our hole ridden stubborn hearts. (Acts 3:19)
Maybe We forgot that the Holy Spirit downpour seeks breakthrough in Our weakness. Inside our hearts reveals a different story. He knows where each hole is. He reveals them to Us, so He can seep in and fix them. (1 John1: 8-10)
Maybe We forgot You like to clean up hidden boarded up messes. Your removal of Our sin is Professional and Permanent. (Isaiah 43:25)
Just Ask Him.
He already paid the costly sacrifice.
By His Word…
He will put on a new roof of Revival in Your Soul
He will pound down rains of Wisdom in Your Mind
He will downpour Joy into Your Heart
He will bring Light to Your Eyes (Psalm 19:7-8)
He has got You covered.
